Editorial policy
Updated
This page states the rules we hold ourselves to. It is public so it can be held against us.
Sourcing
- Every statistic is attributed to a named source with a date.
- Estimates from interested parties - trade associations, vendors, firms with a commercial position - are labelled as such at the point of use.
- Primary sources are preferred: statute text, agency guidance, and the study itself over coverage of the study.
- Where a claim cannot be traced to a source with confidence, we say so rather than rounding into certainty.
Claims
We do not state or imply that any product treats, prevents, mitigates, or cures a disease. This is both a legal boundary under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and an editorial one - the evidence base does not support most of what gets claimed in this category.
When reporting research, we state the dose, sample size, duration, and species alongside the finding. A result at pharmaceutical doses in eight people is reported as exactly that.
Advertising
The site is funded by advertising through Google AdSense.
- Ad units are visually distinct from editorial content and labelled “Advertisement”.
- Advertisers have no advance sight of, or input into, editorial content.
- We do not sell coverage, placement in rankings, or favourable treatment.
- Any affiliate or sponsored arrangement will be disclosed on the page where it appears.
Ads are served programmatically, which means we do not individually approve each advertiser. Seeing an ad on this site is not an endorsement.
Independence from products
We are not a dispensary and this site does not sell CBD products. Where we describe how to evaluate a product, the method is meant to work against any brand, including ones that advertise here.
Corrections
Errors are corrected and marked, not silently edited. Substantive corrections carry a dated note on the article. If you believe something here is wrong, tell us - regulatory detail in this category changes faster than any publishing schedule, and reader corrections are the fastest signal we have.
Use of AI
AI tools are used in research and drafting. Every published piece is reviewed by a person against the sourcing rules above before it goes out. Responsibility for what appears here is ours, not a model’s.
What this site is not
Not medical advice. Not legal advice. Not investment advice. Nothing here has been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Hemp and CBD rules differ by state and change often - verify current requirements in your jurisdiction before acting on anything you read here.
